How the patient insurance eligibility requests work?
As soon as the patient is selected a request gets sent to SureScripts to find insurance eligibility. This is done
asynchronously and a number of factors determine how quickly a response will come back. So a response does not come
back right away in all cases.
You can tell if a match was found by clicking “edit” to edit the patient information and the Insurance section is filled in.
If a match is found, you will also see the insurance in directly above the “action bar” when you are selecting a drug to
prescribe for a patient. Formulary information will also show indicating that a match has been found. Right now you don't
see any indication in the application if the request did not find a match.
Only one request is done per 24 hours per patient.

Registering
Where is my registration email?
Once you're registered, a registration confirmation email is sent to the email address that was specified on the
Register Form. This can take a few minutes during the verification process. If you are unable to find the email in
your Inbox, check your Spam Folders or Junk Mail folders. If you are still unable to locate it, contact your
IT administrator and let them know you are expecting an email from RxOrderSupport@SmartIdWorks.com.
Prescribing
What medications cannot be sent electronically to pharmacies?
On June 1, 2010 a rule for electronic prescribing of controlled substances became effective. The rule requires
functionality such as identity proofing, access control, two-factor authentication, and audit requirements. This
functionality is currently being reviewed and will be built into Oncologyerx.com. Once development of such features
are complete, certification must be completed by a certifying body. Once the certification or audit is complete the
new product will be made available for current users. The requirements are still being reviewed and a timeline for
completion will be released when available.
Until controlled substance prescribing is avaliable these medications must be printed. Click
here for the DEA
list of controlled substances. To report these to Medicare for the 2010 E-prescibing Incentive Program, use G8446.
More information on the new rules for allowing controlled substances to be electronically prescribed can be found here:
